Coco Chanel once said “before leaving the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror, and remove one piece of jewellery”. But I would argue that’s not always the case! When you don’t have confidence in your style, it’s easy to under-accessorise. You may even forgo accessorises altogether! In those situations, I would encourage you to consider adding a necklace, bracelet or some earrings to complete your look.
Accessories aren’t just for the weekends or Friday nights. They’re actually a great way to take your corporate ensemble to the next level. Just like your clothes, your accessories should be tailored to your individual personality. Adding a piece of jewellery to your outfit tells people something about you. However, it’s important to ensure your jewellery isn’t too large or distracting. The purpose is to add interest to your outfit, not divert your client’s attention.
While it’s important to have fun with accessories, there are a few guidelines you can follow to get the best results. Your accessories should flatter your body shape and facial features. For example, if you have a long, elegant neck, you may want to accentuate this with choker necklace. If you have gorgeous green eyes, you may want to help bring out the colour with some green pendant earrings. Equally as important is selecting accessories that compliment your skin tone. Silver is great for cool skin tones, while gold is best for warm tones.
In the corporate world, your personal presentation should be smart and dynamic. When you walk out the door feeling like your outfit is the ‘whole package’, it gives you the confidence you need to kick goals in the workplace. My personal styling packages help you uncover your personal style and rock it hard! You can learn more about them here.
